Founding Partners

The idea for the Conference Awards and the Conference for the Conference Professionals was first conceived in 2009 by Rory Ross Russell and Claire Wormsley, ex-board members of informa UK and Incisive Media respectively. The Global Conference Network and the associated product is jointly owned by their companies R3 Ltd and The Media House.

The successful launch of the first Conference Awards in 2010 would not have been possible without the support of informa who are an honorary founding partner of the Global Conference Network. In particular Claire and Rory would like to thank Peter Rigby, CEO of informa, whose immediate enthusiasm for the whole concept was soon adopted by the other judges who took part in that inaugural event and have joined the panel for the 2011 and 2012 awards.

Co-founders

R3 Events specialises in working with organisations who are in a strong position to run commercial conferences but who lack the experience, expertise or the time to fully exploit their potential. Working in partnership with R3 Events allows publishers, associations and exhibition organisers to host profitable conferences without the need for a team of in-house experts. The Media House, training for conferences, exhibitions and events. The Media House training is the specialist training company for conference and event professionals. Our training programmes and one-to-one coaching are designed by event specialists for event specialists to improve the quality and profitability of your events.

Informa produces over 12,000 events per year, from Conferences, Exhibitions, Large Scale Events, Managed Events, Partner Events and Seminars, and covering a wide range of subjects and business areas.

Over the years Informa's events businesses have developed and refined the process of producing premium business events according to three key tenets:

  • Objectivity - unbiased, non-promotional presentations
  • Timeliness - the information when - and where - it's needed
  • Practical solutions - speakers share commercial experiences and illustrative case studies
